Using Outlook 2k as a mailing list
Why pay for the mailing list program, when you can use the good Outlook software to do the job for you? How it is as easy as sending one email. Lets get in the job by following few steps:-
*1* Create a Group: You can create as many groups of emails as many different news-letter you wants to publish. Here's how you do it. Open your Address book program, click on New->Group and name your group, say "Fun Mailing List". Now click on Select Members and choose all members you want to add in your mailing list.
*2* Once added, your job is nearly done. Now time to send your news-letter, open a new email. Click on the BCC button, select this group. Now type in your message, click on send and great here goes your mailing list. Some email server doesn't support BCC, you might have to stick with CC.
Import from database
What if you have your database saved as Access or Excel instead. Fire up your software, say Excel 2000 and open your database. Click on File->Save As and drop the File Type combo and select *.csv file, this stands for comma seperated value, it is a simple text file which can be understood by our address book.
Now open the Address Book, Click File->Import->Other Address Book, from the new window select Text File (*.csv), click Import. The import wizard pops up, click browse select the csv file click Next. Map step appears, certainly your database must be
containing several fields like First Name, Email, Phone. The wizard displays the first record, click on the check box next to the data and select a Field for it. Click Finish.
Double click your Group "Fun Mailing List" then click Select Members and transfer the imported addresses to your group. That's it.
